APRIL 8, 1972
The Monkees was preempted on CBS by a special presentation of Dig. APRIL 8, 1968 "Everywhere A Sheik Sheik", Episode No. 35 of The Monkees (prod. #4749, from September 25, 1967), was repeated @ 7:30 p.m. EDT on NBC. Kellogg’s™ sponsored. APRIL 10, 1967 “The Monkees In Manhattan” (a.k.a “The Monkees Manhattan Style”) (prod. #47??) first aired @ 7:30 p.m. EDT on NBC as the 30th episode of The Monkees. Kellogg’s™ sponsored the show this week, and “Look Out (Here Comes Tomorrow)”, written by Neil Diamond and produced by Jeff Barry (featured here in a longer mix) “The Girl I Knew Somewhere”, written by Michael Nesmith and produced by Douglas Farthing Hatlelid, and “Words”, written & produced by Tommy Boyce & Bobby Hart (featured here in an early mix), were the featured tunes. APRIL 10, 1971 “Monkee Chow Mein”, Episode No. 26 of The Monkees (prod. #47??, aired on NBC March 13 and July 31, 1967), was repeated @ 12:30 p.m. EDT on CBS. APRIL 11, 1970 “Monkees A La Mode”, Episode No. 24 of The Monkees (prod. #47??, aired on NBC February 27, 1967), was repeated @ noon EDT on CBS, with a new song added: "Oh My My," written by Jeff Barry and Andy Kim. APRIL 14, 1973 The Monkees was preempted on ABC by Soul Unlimited. APRIL 14, 1969 33 1/3 Revolutions Per Monkee, a 60-minute special in color on videotape featuring The Monkees, aired at 8:00 p.m. (EST) on NBC. It guest-starred Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger and The Trinity, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, Little Richard, The Clara Ward Singers, The Buddy Miles Express, Paul Arnold and The Moon Express, and The We Three Trio. The special was sponsored by Aerowax, and the commercials originally shown were Aerowax (natch), Easy-On, American Oil, 7-Up, Woolite, and an NBC Promo for a Don Ho special. 33 1/3 Revolutions Per Monkee was the last performance as a quartet The Monkees ever gave. Peter Tork, reportedly suffering from exhaustion, bought out his Monkees contract @ the end of 33 1/3's production, reducing The Monkees to a trio and making 33 1/3, in its initial NBC-TV telecast (pre-empting Rowan And Martin's Laugh-In), look dated! The Monkees would not be seen on network TV as a foursome again for 28 years. A Site Dedicated To Favorite Shows - Yours And Mine! Celebrating 10 Years Online (1998-2008) A comprehensive guide to The Monkees' filmed work, on TV and the big screen! ![]() |
