The Monkees was preempted on ABC by Soul Unlimited. MARCH 11, 1968 "The Monkees Blow Their Minds" first aired @ 7:30 p.m. EST on NBC as the 57th episode of The Monkees. Kellogg’s™ sponsored the show this week, with “Valleri”, written by Tommy Boyce Bobby Hart and produced by The Monkees, and “Daily Nightly”, written by Michael Nesmith and produced by Chip Douglas, being the featured tunes. Bat-Trivia Footnote: Burgess Meredith made a cameo in this episode as The Penguin, a sly tip of the wool hat to the pending end of the original ABC-TV run of Batman, which occurred in the exact same week as the airing of this episode. MARCH 11, 1972 "The Monstrous Monkee Mash", Episode No. 50 of The Monkees (prod. #4767, aired on NBC January 22 and July 8, 1968), was repeated @ noon EST on CBS, with a new song added: "Bye Bye, Baby, Bye Bye," written by Micky Dolenz and Ric Klein. MARCH 13, 1967 “Monkee Chow Mein” (prod. #47??) first aired @ 7:30 p.m. EST on NBC as the 26th episode of The Monkees. Originally sponsored by Kellogg’s™, the episode featured “Your Auntie Grizelda”, written by Jack Keller Diane Hilderbrand and produced by Jack Keller Jeff Barry. For those of you who were tuners-in/turners-on, here are the original commercials you would have seen this week: Kellogg’s™ Raisin Bran, Slickeringo by Yardley, Kellogg’s™ Sugar Frosted Flakes (with Tony The Tiger), Kellogg’s™ Pop Tarts, and The Monkees for Kellogg’s™ Rice Krispies. MARCH 13, 1971 “The Prince And The Paupers”, Episode No. 21 of The Monkees (prod. #4733, first aired on NBC February 6, 1967), was repeated @ 12:30 p.m. on CBS, with a new song added: "99 Pounds," written by Jeff Barry. MARCH 14, 1970 “The Monkees In The Ring”, Episode No. 20 of The Monkees (prod. #47??, first aired on NBC January 30, 1967), was repeated @ 12:30 p.m. on CBS, with a new song added: "Looking For The Good Times," written by Tommy Boyce & Bobby Hart.
