I like that cover with the red guitar logo. That looks cooler than the other version of the cover.

Let me know if you find out anything about the Monkees Gold LP. Sounds interesting.

One of the oddest things I've found in collecting Monkees records is a Colgems album called "Golden Hits." The front cover is a picture of a gold colored record that has the title on it. The back cover has a picture of Mike, Micky & Davy. No, Peter is not pictured. And the track lineup is not necessarily their greatest hits or their greatest songs. I mean, what's "The Day We Fall In Love" doing on a hits compilation?

Oh yeah I've seen that version of the Golden Hits, it might be over @ the Monkees.net discography section too.

That was probably released around the time of 69 when Tork left?

I use to own the Gold LP, it was released in the early 80's and from Arista (in Japan). It was just like the Arista Greatest hits (U.S.) pretty much. But I'd like to know if this is rare, or has some rare mixes etc.

Yeah, I'm not sure what year it came out. I'm thinking it was released after "Present." However, I'm not sure if it came out before or after "Changes." I know it had to be before "A Barrel Full Of Monkees," as that was the last release on Colgems.

Monkees Golden Hits was issued just before Barrel Full Of Monkees. It was offerd as a cereal premium from Post. The reason behind the track list is that is a collection of all the songs that had appeared on the back of the Post cereal box records. You had to send away by mail to get a copy of the LP.
