Why does the harpsicord fade in a few beats late? Was this an error? If so, will it be fixed like the wrong mix of "Auntie Grizelda" on the MOTM deluxe?

RE: Wrong mix of "Grizelda"?

How so?

I LOVE the new stereo mix of "TGIKS"...I love how it just keeps going on and on during the fadeout.

Favorite song by The Monkees...YES along with "For Pete's Sake".

Andrew told some of us over on another forum that they used another mono version of Grizelda-used on the TV show. The notable difference is after Peter makes all of those silly noises, there is no "uh-uh" vocal by Peter right before the verse.

Is that on the MOTM Mono version as well as the stereo version -- the "uh uh" before the last verse?

And the Mono mix that should've been on MOTM doesn't have that?

Thanks Bob!

Originally, the Uh uh was on all released versions of MOTM- here is the post from the other forum that addresses the change:

Hey all, I was listening to the mono "Your Auntie Grizelda" on the newly released "More of the Monkees" and noticed that it's not the same version found on the Colgems COM-102 lp. The "uh-huh" that Peter makes before the final verse is missing, as well as some of the vocals on the fade out. I was under the impression that the integrity of the original Colgems releases was to be preserved for these releases, a la the Beatles catalog. Are there any other notable differences? By the way, I'm ALL FOR remixing everything. This is not necessarily a complaint.

That mix of "Grizelda" was on a mono mix reel from November '66 (used to compile the original More Of The Monkees release). We debated on using it, but it sounded much better than the other source we had (More Of The Monkees is kind of a poor sounding album in general) and we thought it was the final mix (obviously not). Apologies for that error - I think you will find the other tracks on both CD's match the original mixes accurately (which was our intention).
Someone later commented that this particular mix was used on the TV show- and that's all I have on this one Smiler

I hope the 45 songs make a CD release. It'll probably be bootlegged nonetheless.

The alt mix of Daydream could be thrown in a Birds & Bees reissue and Ball Of Fire could be put in a Present CD reissue as it was finished in 69...

I sure hope they come out on CD. I'm kinda ticked about them issuing a vinyl only single, since they discarded all their vinyl in the early 90's, forcing us to switch to CD's. Especially, since I was trying to collect all of the Monkees albums on vinyl. Instead of a vinyl only single, why not Justus on vinyl? That's what I really want.

Rhino handmade would be the label for that , even better if Mobile Fideity was to issue it.

I wonder if Mobile Fidelity would be interested.

Andrew said that Mobile rejected them in the 90's as they didn't have the first gen tapes.

Of course they do now, their was a gold disc issued a few years back using 20 bit remastering. It sounds like the LTTB box pretty much. It was called 20 Greatest hits or something of the like.

Oh yeah. I used to have that. But I decided to slim down my collection a few years back and just keep the original albums. Maybe I should have kept that one.

There was a Nez one too called "Silver Moon".

It sounds the same as the Nez CD reissues.
