I just got Micky's latest album "Live." It's pretty good. The music is top notch. Jerry Renino's band, you know. But what really makes it is Micky's sense of humor. I just couldn't stop laughing at his jokes. He was practically a standup comedian, except he also sang songs. He's a real all-around entertainer. This one is definitely the best out of his 4 solo albums.

I've been looking forward to this album-and speaking of Micky solo albums, I seem to recall reading a piece in Goldmine back in the 90's where someone (Andrew?) stated that they had found an entire unreleased Dolenz album from the 70's in the vaults. Anybody know anything about that?

Bryan, Are you talking about the 'Live' CD that was put out a few years ago? Isn't it from a 2001 concert?

I think the Micky live album is more recent, like 2003 or 2004. It's off of Micky's site and you can find it on ebay as well:

Yup that was in 96 in GOLDMIND and that was Andrew that said that. It was recorded for MGM and Rhino had access to their vaults (or was it the Peter Tork stuff?), and it was a matter of sorting the rights too.

It would be awesome to have Micky's unreleased album on CD. Perhaps on Rhino Handmade. I wonder what the problem is with the rights.

It seems like those two things are always the problem. I'm still hoping that one of these days it will be worth the wait.
