Andrew any possibility of this concert release on DVD since it was professionally filmed? Maybe as a 2 disc limited edition with the Justus cd and DVD concert. That would be a hot item. Or even as a rhino handmade special edition of the concert would be good. Why has rhino not released this great concert of all 4 guys together? Thanks

Kev

Just my two cents. I was lucky to be at the Billboard Live concert. While it was very exciting to be in the room, the end results were rough. The guys had a great deal of energy, but they were not at their best. My guess is this is one of the reasons it has not been released.

Maybe Andrew's plan to put more content on the web would be perfect for this concert. The video was on Rhino's web site for years.

The fans NEED a DVD of a quartet Monkees concert. And not a bootleg, either. We need an official one. Whether it be Billboard Live or one of their '97 European concerts. This would be the best. Having one of those as a special feature on the Monkees '97 television special would be a good idea, too. Speaking of which, we need that show on DVD! I taped it off TV when it came on, and I'm glad I did. However, my video won't last forever. I need a DVD.

Who has the rights to the reunion tv special ?? Agree it would be nice to have that and the Billboard concert together on DVD.Maybe even with the Hollywood Walk Of Fame induction footage ? the MTV Christmas medley from the 80's ?

Billboard show may have been rough..but it was historical.

Think the Monkees themselves own the 1997 TV special outright. It's listed as, I think, "Monkees Inc." as the owner.

It was really the only time each of them set up a company, like the Beatles Apple Records, for ownership of the TV special and other future projects.

I think the hold up for both a reunion England 1997 concert and the 1997 TV special is that all 4 have to agree on the terms of release. The distribution company, etc..

Maybe not as convoluted as the 1966 Batman TV show DVD release but just about as close.

Jones,Dolenz,Tork and Nesmith may own the 1997 tv special ,but they don't own the name "The Monkees." Rhino does. They guys were employees of Screen Gems/RayBert Productions and have licensed the Monkees name for their reunion tours.

I wonder if anyone could get them all to sign an agreement to the release of the TV special. They would all make money off of it.

Nez needs to realize how much money he could make by selling this on DVD. However, he may have licensing problems due to using the name "The Monkees."

Yeah, he always says that he doesn't do anything just for the money. But he should do it for the fans.

I'm sure of it, he finally got around to reissuing two albums that he said that he NEVER would reissue!

Also wasn't he awarded like $50 million in 1999 in his lawsuit against PBS?

Oh yeah. He won several million in that lawsuit. He's not hurting for money. Besides, he probably wants to retire. I just wish he'd do a solo farewell tour or something. I also wish he'd release the Monkees 1997 special. And the entire series of "Television Parts." Maybe I'm asking for too much?

Actually they was plans for him to released Television Parts on VHS when Videoranch first lanched in the late 90's.

Now w/ DVDs and/or Blu-Ray, it's even more possible and easier.
