I'm gettin' a BAD feelin' about this...Andrew,you said there was going to be these..Well,WHERE ARE THEY? I'm getting tired waiting..either deliver these,or stop telling us they'll be coming out! Tell us the truth..are they,or Aren't they,FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD,ALREADY!?

Andrew stated in late 2008 that no Monkees releases were gonna happen in '08 but hopefully many in 2009. We still have a full year! I'm very optimistic that we will see the "Birds, Bees & Monkees" and "Head" released as deluxe editions sometime this year.

Think positive!

Andrew has no control over Rhino refusing to finance any future releases.

I guess there just wasn't enough sales on the previous deluxe CDs to make Rhino happy with releasing the rest of the albums.

Andrew can't tell you anything more than he's already told us. If Rhino doesn't want to front the money for the releases, what else can you do?

If you havn't bought those deluxe reissues, do it!

Remember it's all about the numbers. Also those past releases were released in the summer/fall respectly. So we still have a few months, and it's JUST the begining of the new year. Sheesh!

I don't recall Andrew ever stating that there will be new releases. All I've ever read is that the plan is to release the CDs through Monkees Present, but he has always given the caveat that they may not make it to the end, and it depends on sales, and it's what Rhino determines. He's said he's hopeful, not that it's written in stone. THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE. He's stated this over and over and over and over and over and over again, yet people keep acting like he's promised something, which I've never read him doing.
All's he's said about these releases has been true so far, from the posts I've seen.

It seems as though there will be no new Monkees releases in 2008, but perhaps many in 2009. Whenever I know something for sure, I will post it here first!

What's the point of your post, mfan?

Be nice if Rhino put together a CD/DVD combo package on "Head."

Would be nice to have an update. If not on the deluxe editions, then on this web site and the forementioned rare mp3s and video. Wish someone kept up with this site. It has potential. Most updated info can be found at http://monkeeland.yuku.com/ ,www.Monkeetalk.com and http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/

Even Rhino's main site is a bit behind, they only their upcoming releases up to April.

And they pulled Rod Stewart's box set from the list. What gives?

If Rhino Records really wants me to double-dip and buy the Monkees albums again, here's what they need to do:

They need to issue a box set with all of the albums done in mini-LP sleeves. This would include the following:

The Monkees (Mono)
The Monkees (Stereo)
More Of The Monkees (Mono)
More Of The Monkees (Stereo)
Headquarters (Mono)
Headquarters (Stereo)
Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd. (Mono)
Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd. (Stereo)
The Birds, The Bees & The Monkees (Mono)
The Birds, The Bees & The Monkees (Stereo)
Head
Instant Replay (both versions of the cover art)
Present (both versions of the cover art)
Changes

All of these CD's would contain bonus tracks. Perhaps a bonus disc would be included also, to tie up all the loose ends. The entire set would be called "The Monkees Complete Studio Recordings." That would be the ultimate Monkees CD collection.

Thoughts, anyone?

I think a box set release seems likely, probably in two years, so they can retire the Music Box set much like they did w/ LTTB.

I don't know about the contents, but it'll probably match the recent reissues.

I just picked up the Japanese 90's By Request box set, I'm gonna take a listen and see how it compares to the other box sets and pressings.

I got 'By Request' back in the day before the 90s reissues. At the time, it seemed very unlikely that any reissue campaign would ever happen.

I like the 'By Request' set. I believe that the mixes on that set are the same that were used on the Arista CDs. Great mixes.

With The Beatles remasters coming in Sept 09, including the stereo and mono box sets - wouldn't it be nice to also have a Monkees stereo and mono box set? Maybe if The Beatles remasters spark enough interest, Rhino will revisit their Monkees catalog. Smiler

I would think that they would do that. Beatles reissues usually bring reissues from other groups of the era. Like the Monkees or the Who. It would be nice to get a full set and not another hitting the highlights set.

They could do two separate sets. One Mono and one Stereo. Or they could do one big box and let that be the ultimate set of all. I would personally like one big box full of Monkees. That would suit me fine. They could include every song. I left out Pool It and Justus. They could include those, too. And those 3 songs from "Then & Now..." I don't understand why those 3 songs weren't added to Pool It as bonus tracks. But, I digress. It would be cool if they could pull off adding the Dolenz, Jones, Boyce & Hart CD's to it. And, possibly, The Point. Maybe I'm asking for too much?

Well, if I'm gonna dream of the ultimate Monkees CD Box Set, I'm gonna dream big!

My guess is Rhino is waiting for the Beatles reissues to compete.

As for the new songs on Then & Now, Andrew said that Rhino doens't own Kicks.

This was on a recent Q & A over @ Steve Hoffman's boards. I posted the link in one of the other threads.

DJBH is owned by Capital too, it was issued recently on CD legit as well.

I'm not sure who owns the The Point, but I think Rhino Handmade would be more of a apt. label to reissue that.

I wonder what's up w/ Gary Strobl's book as well, my guess would be 2010?
