I'm a fan of nice WIDE stereo mixes so I have to disagree on that one. Jeff Barry's hatred of stereo is more than obvious on that album, until you get to the last 2 tracks which he didn't produce. Oh My My is basically mono which some percussion off to the side. All of JB's stuff needs to be remixed, IMO.

I also like Changes. (So, who's #3?) Anyway, I agree that Changes sounds like a mono album on tracks 1-10, then the whole style and sound of the album changes into a different style and sound. I guess that's why they call it Changes? Who knows? I like the album, but if it were mixed similarly to "Midnight Train," it would sound better. Micky produced "Midnight Train." I never understood why he didn't take this opportunity to produce the whole album. It would have been good. Especially, if he had contributed more of his own written songs. And more of Davy's, too.

It was the powers that be that decided Barry to produce, Davy and Micky were back to be singing robots.

I think that also carried over to Davy's 1971 album. He had so much better material that could have been on that album. Check out "Just For The Record Volume Two" and listen. It's great! But don't get me wrong, because Davy's album on Bell was good. I never understood why "Rainy Jane" wasn't a top 40 hit. It should have been.

Davy should release some more of his solo material on whatever he owns.

Yeah I owned the Just For The Record Box Set.

A lot of gems on there.

I used to have the first 3 volumes on cassette. I have volumes 2 and 3 on CD. I've never been able to get volumes 1 and 4. And they're both out of stock on Davy's website. I did just recently order "Incredible Revisited." I can't wait to hear those songs again. My cassette of that was gone ages ago. About 9 years to be exact.
