Nez has agreed to sing the song "Laugh Kills Lonesome" with the Rebeca Mauleon Quartet at the Monterey Jazz Festival on September 20, 2008. It's only one song! However, serious Nez fans have already been making plans to come see him live. How bad can it be to travel to Monterey, California and enjoy a few days of great music at the historic Monterey Jazz Festival? If you have no plans to attend, Nez and Rebeca's quartet will be playing again the next day in Videoranch3D. So you have the opportunity to see him live without leaving your home.

Oh wow! For the first time in eleven years, he's actually gonna perform live. I wish I could go. That would be awesome. I hope everything goes well. I'd still like to see him tour with songs from the "Rays" album. That's such a great album that I hate to see him not tour with it. I guess if things go well anything's possible.

How can you call "Rays" a great album? You only hear Nez singing very briefly - it may as well be anyone's album. The same applies to "The Garden". I can never understand Nesmith fans choosing those albums as their favourites when they are so untypical of his usual style.

It's rather like Monkees fans saying "oh, The Porpoise Song" was the best song they recorded (apart from the fact only Micky and Davy were involved with that record).

While I DO love "Porpoise Song," I get your meaning and have to agree with you. Those two are definitely my least favorites, but then again I get a little lost after "The Prison," so what do I know? Still, always up for another live appearance!

Well, I am a fan of instrumental music. I also like a lot of classical. I love Mike's instrumental albums like "The Wichita Train Whistle Sings." I guess it's a matter of taste. Nez does play on all the songs. I really do like "Rays."

And how did you know that "Porpoise Song" was my favorite Monkees song?

I listened to the BBC Radio broadcast and they play the newly remixed, alternate vocal track "Life, The Unsuspecting Captive".

I think it's cool that Nez is still in the news from time to time. People are always interested in what he's doing.
