I pray that some day soon the four Monkees will regroup, hopefully to enjoy each other's company and possibly to have fun making music together again (maybe with new songs written for them by big names, and support from a veteran producer who knows how best to utilize their talents!).

I wonder, can four guys who shared so much together, who make magic whenever they're together, who are forever linked and bound to each other, and who make so many people happy when they work together, dislike each other so much that they avoid each other like the plague? Even close immediate family members grow apart and it takes a lot of effort to reach out and communicate meaningfully...but, in the cases I know of, it's because the parties involved have nothing in common and no reason anymore to see each other, and it's difficult financially.

I don't know much about the Monkees personal interplay, and I may be simple-minded and see the world through rose-colored glasses...but I see no reason why some day the Monkees can't get past their differences and forgive each other's trangressions, and appreciate what they could gain from working together, while they still are able-bodied.

Why can't Rhino celebrate the 40th Anniversary re-releases by having an Awards Ceremony with all four in attendance? They deserve much more recognition for their accomplishments---their TV shows and music will never die! Why not honor them now, while they are still around? It might even stir up some old (good) feelings between them.

I don't think I'd be out of line to say that at least all who visit this board would love to see the 4 together again, for any reason!

I only hope that if time and circumstance lets that event happen again that they all have fun doing whatever project they would be working on together. I don't want to see 4 miserable Monkees doing something out of contractual obligations.

The other thing is that I just hope there would be some kind of advance notice so we as fans can book travel arrangements and be there to support them.

On the one hand "never say never"...but considering how the last reunion ended.

Maybe we should just enjoy the legacy of the four together and the present and future of them solo.

Totally agree JR Wolfe!

I do think though that the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame induction could happen. It's not out of the realm of possibility. It would seem that all 4 would participate in an induction ceremony. I think that would be it as far as reunions go.

I have to ask the question...

I always hear references to the last reunion ending poorly, but I have no idea what happened?
Did it seriously crash and burn?
I saw them in 2001 and I didn't pick up on nay ill-will. Quite the opposite, they seemed to enjoy performing the show. Was it all smoke and mirrors?

Short answer: Peter got annoyed that Davy and Micky would drink (rumoured heavily at times) around Peter, a recovering alcoholic. Peter spoke up, the other 2 didn't like it, and fired him. The 2kees finished out the tour and that was it.
There may be other details I left out, but that is what I remember. Anyone else- feel free to fill in any details I left out.

Wow...
On one hand, that's very insensitive of Micky and Davy to have partied around Peter, especially after his vices have gotten the better of him in the past.
On the other, bands like Poison and Motley Crue have found ways to tour sucessfully, while accomodating their recovering members.
That said, Peter certainly went out of the frying pan and into the fire, what with playing bars now. I hope he is still successful in his sobriety.

The Monkees inducted into the RNRHOF ? I would like to see it but strongly doubt Jann S.Wenner and the rest of the board would allow it.

After all ,although it was revealed that the Dave Clark 5 had more votes than Grandmaster Flash, their induction was blocked in favor of having the first rap group(GF) inducted.

A lot of deserving 60's bands have been left out on the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame.In addition to the Monkees...Steppenwolf,Paul Revere & The Raiders featuring Mark Lindsay, Iron Butterfly and Three Dog Night have not been inducted. Nancy Sinatra (both solo and as the duo with Lee Hazelwood) also deserves to get in.

All that said, can see all 4 Monkees there Smiler
