Does anybody know anything about Alan Wolsky... what else he designed besides BB&M and Instant Replay? I did a Google search and was surprised to find next to nothing. I actually like the design of the cover to BB&M... was wondering what his other graphic designs (apart from the Monkees) might have looked like or what some of the rough drafts for the BB&M cover may have looked like.

I did an interview a guy named Marvin Korman who explained to me that he designed the cover and his picture even appears behind one of the flowers! I have never spoken with Alan Wolsky or seen any of his other designs. Who knows?

I do know that the head of Colgems,Lester Sill recalled in 1994 that The Monkees gave him more than enough misery for the Exec behind the flowers...so,he called up the head of RCA,who'd said "Just leave it alone,don't touch it",to which Sill said "O.K.,Chief" as I can recall in your liner notes in the "Birds,Bees &" CD,Andrew. Yeah. After all their fighting for creative control of the records, they still weren't allowed to choose the cover. I think that the cover of their next album, "Head," was done on purpose as a rebellion. They actually stalled the presses at RCA, since each album had to be handled carefully to keep from messing up the "mirror" covers.

I wonder what the cover of "The Birds, The Bees & The Monkees" would have looked like, had they been able to choose their own cover. I'll bet it would have been a better cover. I always thought the cover was ugly. I'm not alone in this, either. Mike, Micky, Davy & Peter also agree with me.

Check out the Rascals' "Once Upon A Dream" and the Animals' "The Twain Shall Meet" cover art. They are both from 1968 and the style is extremely similar to the art of The Birds The Bees And The Monkees. I don't know who created them.
