The Monkees are going to be on the Biography channel on 12/19/07.

Can someone record this for me? I don't get the biography channel. :-(

I'd like to know, is this the same as the Disney Channel one?

No, it was a new biography from the Biography channel. It was so-so. I've seen better.

Cool. How recent are these interviews?

I presume they are from the recent special? Or they look pretty recent, probably from 2006 or 2007.

The E! True Hollywood Story was the best TV documentary on the Monkees that I've seen.

The VH1 Behind The Music was too similar to the MTV Teenage Monkee one, but instead of Tommy Boyce it was Bobby Hart in the other one.

Rhino should work w/ VH1 to release that one on DVD. Much like the other Behind The Music specials that have been released on DVD.

The E! True Hollywood story was good. They just needed interviews with Nez. That's the only thing wrong with it. What they need is a viewpoint similar to the E! True Hollywood Story, but with all four members telling stories just like in "Hey Hey We're The Monkees." That would be the ultimate Monkees Anthology. That, and it should be a miniseries, not a one-shot tv special.

The Monkees anthology is what we need!

I think Nez had lawsuits @ the time which is why he didn't do interviews for the E! one.

No, it wasn't the lawsuits. Nez had all of those lawsuits over with, well before filming for the E! special. He just didn't want to be interviewed at the time. Weird, huh? He should have done it, since the other three took the opportunity to voice their angst against him. I think they should all come to some kind of agreement where they won't badmouth each other in public. The fans hate that. I especially hate it.

Nez was asked and agreed, production started in 1998.

The special aired in 1999, but Nez was still trying to recolve the PBS lawsuit. This was according to the revised edition of TOTAL CONTROL.

Nez's ex-wife's were also asked and encouraged but turned down interviews. Did Nez make them sign a gag order perhaps?

I don't have the new "Total Control" book. I have the old one. I didn't know the details about the PBS lawsuit. I wish he had taken part in the interviews, or if E! would have waited for him.

As for his ex-wives, they may not want to talk about him. Gag order? I dunno. I guess it's possible.

Even Nez's ex-wifes turned down interviews for Total Control book.

I recommended the new edition as it picks up from the old one from 96-94. There's more photos and errors were corrected.

For e.g. that was NOT Hulk Hogan in the "Cruisn" video, as Nez also said so in the elephant parts DVD commentary (new pressing).

My complaint about it was that the font on the book were all smaller! To make room for all the new photos, also the paper stock is more like newsprint while the first edition had a more coated thicker cardboard-like paper stock.

I gotta get that book. I really like the original book. I bought it at a bookstore, took it home and started reading it. I couldn't put it down until I was finished! It was extremely well-written, as it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.

Oops I said "96-94", I meant 96-2004. A lot of interesting dirt on the 30th anniversary tour.

Oh yeah. I remember that tour well. I went to see them in Memphis, Tennessee in July 1996. A lot of stuff went down on that tour from 96-97. Monkee Business Fanzine covered some of it, but a lot of it was left up to speculation. I can't wait to get that new Total Control book.
