I noticed that Season 1 is no longer listed as available on amazon or deepdiscout.com, while you can still get it on the official site.

Conversely, Head and Season 2 are still available everywhere else, but not on the official site.

Are the box sets going out of print or being phased out for an upgrade?

Season One is currently out of stock - but not out of print. It should be available again soon.

Good! I'd hope they weren't going out of print yet.
I haven't had a chance to get either set.

Seemed a bit costly at first, but being such a great series,
that it'd be so worth it! Really miss that show. Frowner

I personally wish that the price would go down on both of these sets. I really want to get them but $60.00 per set is pretty steep. I'll probably miss out on this unless the price goes down.

Will Rhino reissue the two DVD box sets at a reduced rate soon ? Noticed my local video store can't re-stock them.

Here's an idea for how to get the box set(s) a bit cheaper: Borders book store offers a Borders Rewards program, in which members are sent discount coupons for merchandise. Every few months or so one of the coupons is 40% off any DVD box set. That's how I got my copy of Season 1 on DVD. Mind you, I had to do a bit of running around to find a store that carried it, but when I did it sure was worth it when I had the coupon! :-)

There is new stock available now of Season One. Should filter out to retail stores soon.

I've never seen The Monkees Season Box Sets on the retail level. Not in my area, anyway. I still have the 1995 video box set. I just wish I had saved my money back then, so I could buy the DVD's now. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20.

Interesting, so if a item is out of stock, meaning it's sold out by Rhino or an distribtor?

I'm still wondering how a item goes out of print.

I was in Memphis last week and I actually saw The Monkees Season 2 on DVD in an actual record store. That was cool. However, I didn't have the money to buy it. I wish I had, since the price was way lower than I've seen for a new copy. It was only $59.95. I need to take more money with me. I'll definitely buy it next time.

I remember when Season two came out, Futureshop ( our version of Best Buy) had TONS of them and Season one as well and on a display and selling them reasonably!

But I got them for much cheaper @ my work. This was back in 2003.

Last week was the first time I had ever seen them on the retail level. You'd think they would be in more abundance.

Well when they first came out, I'm sure retailers could have gotten a discount bulk rate. But now, it's getting hard to find.
