Hello,
long time (and currently bummed out by the Rhino/Head situation) reader, first time poster.

I just recently heard 3 of Micky's songs from '71-72 (?) for the first time (Oh Someone, Easy On You and Unattended in the Dungeon) and was SO pleasantly surprised. I shouldn't have been surprised at how good they were, given the coolness of his '68-69 Monkees compositions. But I do feel surprised that all of these efforts flopped so spectacularly and haven't even been officially released anywhere.

Anyway, my questions to you, the forum, are:

1) Did Micky write all 3 of the aforementioned songs?

2) Is it true that Tork had a hand in these recordings?

3) Did Nilsson play a part in any of these recordings?

4) As a drummer and Beatle fan, I know a Ringo performance, or a Ringo rip-off when I hear one. Who is that playing drums on "Oh Someone?" I read that Micky used to have huge star-studded jams at his Laurel Canyon house..maybe Ringo was talked into recording a track?
In any case, who's playing that guitar? Very Stones/Little Feat.
And who's on the moog on "Easy On You?"

thanks,
Brian

1. David Price wrote one of them, not sure about the others, I'm sure Micky was involved w/ the writing.

2. Tork co-produced and co-arranged "Easy On You".

3. Harry wrote & produced some songs w/ Micky around this period such as "Daybreak" so it's likely

4. I'm sure some Beatles books out there would have meantion if Ringo drummed on Micky's solo stuff.

Anyone have any details about Micky's recordings of "Winged Walker" and "Purple People Eater"?

I don't think "Winged Walker" is on there. I heard this years ago from a cassette. Not sure where to get that track. I may have the title slightly wrong but I'm pretty sure that's it.

That's the bootleg. The official release of these songs were on singles on the labels MGM, Romar, Lion (as Starship) and Chrysalis. Also, there was an album on MGM called "You're A Lady" by Davy Jones & Micky Dolenz which featured one solo side from each of them. Too bad they didn't have another album with a solo side each of Mike and Peter. Maybe someday, someone, somewhere, will release these officially on CD's or as mp3 download.
